I love the dealers....

During a trip out the 'Emission control/Engine management warning light' has come on on my 3-year-old t6 4 motion (solid, not flashin). Van feels fine and not in limp mode.

Just called a dealer to arrange for them to take a look and they won't be able to look at it till the end of July/August but also won't say it's ok to drive it.

The van is under warranty and I have VW assist, but if they drop it off at the dealer does that force them to look at it sooner?

Thanks

There was another post on here a few days ago. This was in connection with a roof fault.

The owner called out VW assist, who said it was for the owner to make an appointment with the VW Van Centre.

Have you tried restarting the engine to see if the light remains on?

If yes, then I'd call VW assist.....after all this is what you are paying for!

Try vw assist, they should have sufficient diagnostics with them to diagnose what has caused the light to come on & should be able to do a reset. Should also be able to give sensible advice as to whether its ok to drive.

If its not, they should be able to get it into a dealer quicker, they wouldn't take mine in as in their view the van was still drivable therefore useable.

Thanks..... I'll call VW Assist out in the morning.

@Jason wallace. We had a similar issue, before 1st lockdown. VW assist came out diagnosed sensor fault. Followed me to our local dealer Breeze discussed the issue. Van booked in. Taken home by AA assist. Collected van a day later.

Just out of curiosity, has the van not been used much recently? During lockdown I had a loan vehicle whilst awaiting my Beach. The light came on. I did a 20 mile trip up and down the A90 and the light went out and all was sorted. It was the regen needing to work.

It’s used daily for shortish trips. Last longish trip was last weekend.

I may take it for a blast first thing, and then if needed call them after that.
Thanks.

Please let us know how it goes.

Quick update.......had to wait for 24hrs for a VW specialist to become available.

The warning light was due to a glow plug fault. He was able to reset on the day as he said it was likely an intermittent fault. He then ordered a replacement and is coming back today to fit it.
