Facebook

Would be better as a closed group ?

I have to say that the club Facebook page is a great place to catch up on member news (e.g. travels) and to see some great photos. It seems to have gathered pace in recent weeks. I don't believe the page will ever replace the depth of advice / knowledge delivered through the forum however its a great place to visit - well done.

:Iamsorry tried but just do not like facebook. Is it just me

Not just you, Andy. Liken it to listening to the Archers, can't miss it until you take a holiday and miss a load of episodes. Then you wonder what you were thinking of??
If that makes sense?
Mind you, when I was on face page I had LOADS of friends!!

Coat and hat time......

Why is the FB page private?

edit: now I've got a facebook account I can see it is better as a closed group, but actually better as a shop window without discussion, they should be forwarded to the forum IMO.

I had about 50 people in Russian and another 50 in China I might know just waiting for MI5 to call at my door now

Good idea I think it will help gain some traction. Nice one Kev, thanks!

I am glad facebook works for some and Iam sure those who use the Cali pages will get the most of it. For me it is a platform I just do not like.

Tend to agree. My concern is that any dilution of the knowledge base from this terrific forum to multiple resources, Facebook, Twitter etc will damage the Forum.
I've noticed that the Facebook page is being used to ask questions, that would be better directed here.
Facebook is fine for daily chit chat but is not very good as an information resource, for which this forum is great.
On a positive note, not seen any cat videos on the Facebook page yet!

Its the forum for me - everytime. FB is a bit too "frothy" for my liking although I have signed up just to keep "up to speed".

I’ve been on the club Facebook page for a while now and am less and less inclined to get involved. The questions being raised would get a far better response and more considered answers if they were directed to this forum. Any comments on Facebook just get lost over time so there’s repetition of questions and answers.
There’s a place for Facebook but in my opinion not for the “serious stuff”.

Facebook isn't really suited in my view, but its good for getting a daily quick fix I guess. Forums will always win in quality of info and searchability, but some people just prefer that instant fix. I agree, I rarely get involved but there are thankfully plenty who like the format and I leave it to them.

Facebook is a different format, that may attract a different audience.

The strength of this forum is it’s a high quality, serious, technical resource. Which can also be a weakness, it can often be a bit dull.

The whole ‘Official’ thing IMO is also a bit daft.
