Possibly in a position to take a longer break in April/May 2021 due to leave arrangement changes (I can carry some more over having not been able to take it this year). Therefore thinking about a month in total to Scandinavia and wondering what the options are to get there from a ferry perspective and the pro's and con's of shorter cheaper routes further south with the consequent longer drives both in the UK and on the continent. Thinking of Denmark and southern Sweden, we'll save Northern Norway and Finland for the retirement trip.
I'm sure some of you will have done similar so any thoughts or recommendations would be much appreciated, thanks.

Newcastle - IJmuiden with DFDS is the furthest north at the moment.

I looked into UK to Norway last year. The only route I could find was a freight ferry Immingham to Brevik but it was eye wateringly expensive - £800+ each way! The Newcastle to Bergen ferry no longer runs.

On this year's prices a return trip with a twin sea view cabin looks around 600 quid. Google maps suggests a 10hour drive to Malmo. It's quite a total travel time but just acceptable I think.

Yes what a shame that ferry doesn't run anymore! It would be ideal. I remember my parents using it in the very early 90s when they took his first Golf GTi over!
Looking at some of these 'freight' only ferrys they are asking for evidence of commercial use so perhaps these are no longer options?

Does having a Campervan full of booze count as commercial interest....
