Why anyone still buys conversions is beyond me!

If you had not told me it was a T6 I would of assumed it was a T5 on the back of the low loader !!!

Even more underwhelmed than I was when I saw it at launch, also people are getting excited about the technology!! Most of this tech on the T6 was in Mercs, BMW's over five years ago, also I bet we will be ripped off with pricing as well and a nice spec Cali will be hitting £60k

They actually sold me the California ...

I popped into their place to have a look at the models and they had a lone Cali sat in a corner.

Left on my own for a few minutes I wandered over, looked inside and thought "this will do me"...

After that when a few months later I had decided to buy a camper then there was only one model to choose from on the short list.

You are only "ripped off" if you decide to buy one. It is your choice ;)

Like the new dash but way too much black plastic on the new front bumper.

One reason is that VW dealers are not interested in taking motor homes in part ex. (In our area they don't even seem to be interested in selling you one even without a p/x ) So if you want to downsize you end up at a motorhome dealer and buy an Autosleeper or whatever.

You could legitimately ask why I'm reading a California forum but some of us just prefer conversions. The California is a bit cold in my opinion - and I prefer a proper fridge.

Well at least the California doesn't have carpet on the floor, and walls, and ceiling.

I pass many conversions on my travels, and I do mean pass, especially on hills.:D

Don't you just love all that cheap grey carpet the converters use, and none of the roofs look as good as the Cali roof when in the down position.

Also dont forget conversions have awful residuals, I found out the hard way

There are a lot of conversions that I quite like, but when I was looking most were converting on to 84 and 102 models, occasionally a 140. I chose a cali in the end because it was so bland. I could put my own carpets, covers and bits and pieces in it to brighten it up without clashing with anything.

Don't get me wrong. I think the California is great but it's horse for courses. You could find the exact opposite of this thread on another forum I belong to. Surely that's the great think about vw campers - the diversity.
