Just a little tip - once, having spent ages huffing and puffing, you have figured out which permutation of positioning of your three or four bikes actually fits onto the rack, take several photos from different angles as a reminder for when you need to put them back on again the next time 
You just know it's going to be dark and raining as you struggle to get them on when you're already late for the ferry
