I have just gone to take my ocean t6.1 for a drive and neither of the remote keys are unlocking the vehicle . It has sat there for 2 mths without being driven so I’m presuming the battery has gone flat . Could anybody advise if there is a correct procedure to jump start . I guess I have to unlock with a regular key , find the battery under bonnet and just connect a jump pack ?…?
Any advise would be appreciated, I don’t want to cook anything.

If you’re in no rush you could just plug in the electric hook up and leave it a day or so.

Bad luck.

Hopefully it’s just two flat key fobs! You’ll know once you’re in I guess.

That said the battery access is under the seat in mine. Shouldn’t be too difficult to hook it up to another diesel car to see if there’s life enough in the old battery.

Are you sure?
The engine/Starter battery is under the bonnet, R hand side.

My Cali is stop/start Blue Motion. When it had a flat battery and I tried jump starting both from a booster and a friends car with jump leads, the engine wouldn't turn over.

I belioeve the information is in the Handbook, but basically if using a Jump Start Pack, connect +tve to Starter battery +tve BUT -tve to chassis earth point . Likewise if using Jump Leads.

Plugging into EHU will trickle charge the Starter Battery on the T6.1, but only trickle charge and may not be sufficient to charge a totally dead battery. In which case a standalone Mains charger is required and connected, as above, for jump starting.

I'd say you need to work out if it is the key fobs or battery first. Just unlock with the key and try in the ignition. If ok. Fobs. If not. Battery. If battery either charge it with a seperate charger, but because they can be finicky to charge (you should take out and/or disconnect, which can need electronics reset)

I'd just get someone to jump start you via leads. Or leave plugged in as per post 2.

We had a mega flat battery once and the recovery van had to leave the leads on for 5 minutes before it would even turn over and use his heavy duty leads.

Remember that if the battery has been flat your sensors will have reset so take it for a drive and the AA chap who jumped ours told us to do a full turn left and right on wheels to reset the wheel sensors.

Genuinely not sure at all. I always assumed there were two batteries in the rear and one in under the drivers seat for other things.

The one in the rear and the one under the seat are both the leisure batteries. The one under the bonnet is the “starter” battery.

I've driving mine less and my tracker is telling me the battery is low all the time, I don't think the cold weather is helping...

Definitely get VW Assist to help, I think, the split chargers can be sensitive.

Ha, ha, defo not an expert clearly.

When I was discussing adding a leisure battery to my 1st T6, I know we needed a different split charger & was advised to be careful if ever jump starting that van.

Probably just the guy fitting it flexing with limited knowledge. Can't imagine a split charger, knowing how they work in modern ones, would reverse itself and pump electricity from the jump start to the leisures. It is advised though, with a stop start vehicle, so a 6.1, to connect the earth to the engine blocks of both vehicles rather than the earth posts. All covered in the manual under "jump starting the vehicle" which the OP should likely read.
