We're thinking of hopping over to north France for a few days the week after next (well we don't see any attraction to being in the UK then, when the small-handed orange cockwomble graces us with his pussy-grabbing presence).

Looking at the Cote'Albatre and probably slightly more widely so say between Calais and Normandy.

Anyone got any good recommendations for nice places to visit/stay in that area (not straying too far beyond it please, we're not going to do a grand tour of northern France this time)?

TIA.

We have stayed here a few times for one nighters en route into France or back into UK, loads to do in the area including great beaches, Chateau with gardens. (Beach is approx 15 min walk from the campsite). We chose this site as it is about an hours drive from Calais, far enough away from any Calais associated problems but close to the Chunnel etc.
Very friendly site, usually something unexpected going on like Segways onsite

Etretat is nice and has a municipal camp site so cheap too. The beach is shingle but there are nice views from either end of the beach and the town is pretty good to explore for an afternoon.

Just a quick report back in case anyone is looking to head down as far as Upper (ie eastern) Normandy. Can thoroughly recommend this campsite, just east of Bayeux.

Very sweet site in grounds of a pretty chateau. Excellent facilities. Pitches a bit cramped but that would be about our only criticism. We ended up staying two nights as it was such a good base for touring the D-Day beaches, Bayeux etc. Unfortunately only open in the summer though.

Thanks to others for their recommendations above.

Incidentally a French chap we chatted to strongly recommended camping on the Cotentin (/Cherbourg) peninsula, which we intend to try out soon. Anyone been there recently?
