hello, dear California owners and fans!

We are new here and don't have a good orientation yet. Hope, the forum topic we have chosen is correct, at least we do our best to describe the problem in a possibly clear English)) Thanks in advance!

Since we have bought our California Westfalia T4 in 2012, never met any fridge problems. It cooled tip-top -perfectly and quickly. Last year Cali stayed more than moved and once we have checked our fridge working, it started acting...As the engine starts the fridge clicks as if it starts working, but it may last for some longer period, sometimes didn't started at all. We've checked the filter(the first time we knew where it is) and removed it for cleaning-changing.

For some time we moved without the fridge filter, the fridge didn't worked properly, from time to time...

As we couldn't find the new filter to replace with, we put the old one, but a bit cleaner, back to the tube.

As result, now, the fridge engine starts, we can hear it, but there is no cooling, just nothing...

Have anyone met such an issue, and what could be the reason (could be the filter missing for some time?)?

Sorry, for may be this item have been already discussed, then would be appreciate for the links...

May be the electrical scheme is available anywhere in the net?

Liza

Hello Liza. Welcome to the forum.

What condition are the leisure batteries in? If they don’t have sufficient voltage the fridge will attempt to run then shutdown.

Thank you! And for the prompt answer as well!

The leisure batteries are new, less than a year after changing.
Our idea is,that may be, while there were no filter, we caught the dust from the bottom.
The fridge engine seems to be working, but it doesn't work evenly, it starts and stops, starts and stops...smth like that...

if the reason is in the dust, how would be possible to clean it?

deffo sounds like it needs a re-gas

We’re off to a good start then. It maybe something a little more complex. There are a number of threads on the forum that have covered this in some depth already so I’ll get you started with this one - T4 Cali fridge not working

Thank you very much! We will check the link, hope it will help us))

Ah sorry. I suspect your fridge has a leak in the pipework that feeds the condenser unit.

If you look behind the fridge in your home you’ll see a network of tubes.
The fridge in your van is just the same.

Over time they leak and the fridge becomes less efficient, the symptom being continuous running.

It’s a simple fix but it needs removal from the van.

Most people use Penguin refrigeration in Hampshire. They’re familiar with the units. Cost will probably be around £150.

Another possibility is the control box which is a more simple fix.
Approx £120.
