Getting organised for a trip last weekend it became apparent that the fridge was switching off immediately after being switched on.
We've used the Cali since October but not the fridge.
Other than we had the earth shunt issue, the fridge has always worked well.
So, I checked both 10A fuses under the passenger seat, both good.
I tried the fridge while connected to mains power. No different.
Leisure batteries showing fully charged…..
So, on recommendation via this forum I contacted penguinfrigo.co.uk
They put me in touch with Stuart Tomlinson, based near Bridgewater who happened, when I rang him, to be in Bristol working.
He was doing gas safety on boats but does fridges too.
Whilst he didn’t have all of his equipment he offered to have a look.
Eventually he discovered there was no power to the fridge and suggested I bought a number 53 relay which I did, £28 from Heritage Bristol.
Hey presto, fridge is now working.
Stuart didn’t charge me. He knows his stuff. His mobile is 07971 001954.

Wow - He's deserves the shout out then. Love it when someone restores your faith in human nature.

Inside the left hand cupboard, on the left side, is a cover with 3 screws.
This allows access to the fridge control units, compressor etc.
I removed everything from that side, including the shelf for easier access.
The relay, here pictured is easily seen.
Remove and plug a new one in.
VW has changed the 53 relay to a different part number.
