I guess we just fell in love with these countries so we are starting tomorrow to see some bears and (hopfully) wolves near Freiburg im Breisgau!

We keep you up to date with some pics and intel where we stayed!

Have a nice summer!

Hope we get a report and pictures?
Enjoy!

Forst stop in Wolfsch Germany. Nice place to see some bears and wolves!

Then we headed south again near Friedrichshafen (crowded) and found a nice place next to a farm:

(Stellplatz an der Besenwirtschaft, Meckenbeuern, Germany)

From the Region of Friedrichshafen we drove to Munich...our mistake: Everybody was driving to this city it seemed.
Later on it went worse: We tried to drive from Munich to Salzburg and then cross the boarder again to Slovenia.

After a couple of hours of traffic jam/slomotion driving we changed lanes and went the route to Kitzbuehl, Lienz and arrived some hours later in Camp Soča (again). And it's still one of the best camping places around here (wrote about it in May). Situated next to the Soča River with some deep green forest around you. Stunning. The place itself was not fully booked or crowded but def more visitors than in spring. A lot of kayakers, hiking groups and some mountainbikers.
We stayed here for 2 nights and we really enjoyed this quiet place.

Today we wanted to soak up some big city vibes befor heading to Croatia and drove to Ljubljana. Lovely capital with charming streets. We parked as usual PH Kapitelj (2.1m high) a few steps away from the centre.

From Ljubljana to Croatia there are several roads/boarders you can choose to enter the country. We took again the one which leads us to Petrina (106) and Delnice (D203) an then the A6. Passing the boarder - as written befor last year -was no problem and not crowded at all (so different to the one in Buzet). Beside: We almost forgot to get some Kuna (Croatian Currency) in Delnice (post office opposite Lidl) to pay the toll (we may could pay with credit card).

Just befor Delnice.

Our next stop was Camp Selce.

Medium-sized campsite, visited it last year, quite a lot places under some trees but somehow a lot of pitches are steep and only a few are on some kind of "terraces/steps" (we choose one next to the entrence in the shadow).

Shower and washing facilities:

But we planned only to stay here for one night and from Tuesday till Saturday we're going to be on Island Pag Camping Straško. Reputation is good so we expect a great (crowded, fully booked) campsite with all the comfort you'd wish for...

Strasko on island Pag... what shall I say (sorry for using the phrasal verbs incorrect): Hug campsite like a small city. Several supermarkets and restaurants/fastfood corners. Looks like a great place for kids: on the water-waterslides, swimming pools.

Toilet facilities look okay, they cleaned it twice.

Beach (tiny rocks) and water seems clean.

Camping pitches are numbered and our (1481) is big enough and under some trees.

In my opinion it is too crowded (yes, I knew that in advanced) and when you're not into sunbathing and swimming it's obviously the wrong place. So but it was the missed wish to stay here and time will tell how it feels.

Beach in the morning: quite and crystal clear water

Even saw some small fish. The sea it self looks plain: just sand no plants.

Tomorrow we are leaving Camping Strasko. Time to write a conclusion about this huge place.
Pitches and camping spots: There are four zones where you can book a pitch and there is are caming spots without reservation.

- Premium Lux Zone is only available/there are moble homes (quite nice spots next to the sea and some with terraces.
- Delux Zone are only for pitches for motorhomes/campervans (imo these places are great but not worth to pay more, situated between the facilities and a bakery, no direct sea-view)
- Premium Zone and Gold Zone are quite similar (except some Premium pitches have sea view). Our place was in the Gold Zone and we had everything in walking distance.
- Camping spot is a field with some trees and you are free to park and camp where you want (depending on the space you need there are a few nice spots).

Goodies as Wlan Internet, Shops and Services:
- Wlan is not so stable but you can acces for free about everywhere on the camp ground. Maybe a Wireless booster as @WelshGas uses would be perfect to get a better connection. I tried my mobil hotspot with a dataroaming packages from Switzerland. It worked but I had problems to find a partner.
- There are about two supermarkets on site with everything you need for your stay (food and drinks) and there are a couple of souvenier shops with some t-shirts, bags or beach-wear (also snorkeling stuff, skateboards, waterguns...). You also find a small "camping-gear" shop with some useful (probably super expensive) stuff as some extra chairs or tables.
- To complete their sevices for the campers there is a proban/gas-station to fill up your gas and a mechanic for problems with your camper/car

If you bring your cycles with you be aware that in summer it is hot and dry. Although we saw some "roadies" around the island/mainland and I guess there would be some great tracks for mountainbikers. The town Novalja is only about 5 minutes away from the camping and the camping-train is not everybodys choice so bicycles are great to get around here.

Next stop was this little Camp Bunica V next to a great beach just underneath the main road (Magistrale Adria or so)
f36106d5b6018c74f228dd50c9f9d1bb.png

There where 2 camping places divided with a small fence, on the one side we stayed there were about 18 pitches some right next to the beach (too sunny for us).
The owners were friendly, spoke English, German and Italian (and probably also Slovenian) and the facilities were okay (only two showers). There's a snack bar/bistro next to the beach with some local meals.

From Camp Bunica we went to Senj (in a great book for children/teens and foreveryoungs the Red Zora, quite known in the German speaking countries, Senj is the location where all her adventures begin) for breakfast. Next stop was the bears refugee in the mountains (https://www.tripadvisor.ch/Attracti...ctuary-Kuterevo_Lika_Senj_County.html?m=19904)

It was quite good however in comparisson with the bear park in Schwarzwald I would def recommend the one in Germany. Although we saw two big brownbears and three "pups".

We realy wanted to see the National Park Plitvicer Lakes but it was so crowded that we just turned back to the coast! I recommend to visit this beautiful place im spring or autumn.

Plitvice is an amazing place, but always crowded if it's not raining!
Totally agree that it should be best enjoyed in Spring or Autumn.

After staying another night in CP Selce we said goodbye to the sea and went to Zagreb (capital of HR).

We found a good parking (City Centre, kind of a shopping mall, 3.8m high - attention there are some bars which are lower!)

Zagreb is a nice town built between two hills with a decent food market everyday (till noon) and all the brands and shops you (might) need.

We decided to leave Croatia and drove back to Slovenia. We wanted to see Ptuj in the NE.
c74e584e6d18a0b9889a9a206780c8e2.jpg

The town was nice and we drove cycled around the bars. It doesen't look so shiny like Ljubljana however it has some realy nice spots and the castle it self loos great!

We slept on the CP Therme Ptuj. A good situated place with some old fashioned facilities but the pitches were okay and you have enough space. The staff was very helpful and there's a warm spa next to this place.

I wanted to post a pic of our van to proof (as you all already knew) how easy it is to drive in cities and find a parking slots

Here we are in Maribor for a lunchstopover.

After lunch in Maribor we drove to an other warm water spring next to Kamnik Terme Snovik. This one is quite smaller than the one in Ptuj, and the place where you can stay with your camper is parking next to the spa is for free and the entrance for the spa is Euro 11.-/4h.
There was an other camper from Germany with his family staying there and we felt safe all the time.

So IMO this is a good place to stay next to a hot spring (the spa was more a kids-swimmingpool same as in Ptuj) and it was better than in Ptuj. The parking is between a small river and the forest.

...and there and back again... we are on our way home... write more soon

Hi, we are about to go there next week. I was considering to take in Austria the Glossglockner Hochalpenstrasse (high alpine road) which runs just a couple km more east and also arrives to Lienz

Did you consider that road? Or was it too crowded.. It's supposed to be very nice and you drive up to 2800m
