Glind heat exchanger shower installation

I have purchased the following kit which I want professionally installed to benefit from their liability insurance. The heat exchanger part of it is placed in series with the engine coolant heater system, and it probably needs a simple bracket manufactured to mount it neatly.

Yes I have, and they didn’t want to do it unfortunately.

You may also have tried these 2 but I use Bristol & Bath car services in keynsham for my wife’s car and always been happy. There’s also Audi Volks service in keynsham. Other than that could be worth trying a converter.

I found a converter prepared to fit it, but COVID happened and it’s still in its box at the moment.

what is the end goal? for hot showers? and what about the water reservoir, planning to get an additional one?

Just hot showers, I wild camp permanently, so I carry a 20l spare water container for drinking, and a 12l container for a shower. Even with 12l I need to boil 3 saucepans of water to mix in with the cold to get a warm shower, it’s a pain. With the heat exchanger and associated pump, you can recirculate the water in container on idle until it’s warm enough, with the shower head and source hose in container. Turn the engine off, keep pump on and shower, this method prevents scalding. 10l is enough for a quick shower.

Look at overlander 4x4 suppliers. You would need to attach it to something, like a bespoke adapter plate or bracket mounted in the awning rail or roof rail.

No you don’t recycle dirty water. With the Glind you can just recirculate clean water in a bucket to heat it up if you need to. It may be hot enough without doing this. I haven’t fitted mine yet, as I don’t want to void the warranty on the can.

It’s usually easier to use baby wipes, and find a proper hot shower in a sports centre, gym, truck stop, marina or campsite every now and then, especially in winter.

I like the wild aspect of it so will keep going and the revert to baby wipes once I realise it’s a terrible idea!! Cheers

Get a small duck board to stand on too, it really helps. IKEA do one. I have had a few great alfresco showers in the wild. No matter where you are somebody will appear from nowhere and walk past!
