Barry Island, looked after the Railway ticket machine for 5 years.
I was on my way there many years ago when we had the floods, got stuck in Tewksbury for 14 hours.
Had a curry and a few pints of cobra. Slept in the Focus for 4 hours, then sat with a Saab, and a Ford Explorer watching the water subside, under J2 of the M50.
Whilst watching water levels recede, the roof of a Vauxhall Frontier came into view.
Very happy to see it was devoid of anybody inside after 30 minutes!
Drove on the side of the viaduct to get onto the M50 and back home.
Very Surreal 15 hour day.
Ford Focus drove through various flooded areas up to bonnet height and worked ok.
Will never forget driving through 2 feet of water flowing from high field to low field, with only hedge line to know where the road was.
I tried for 8 hours to get out of Tewksbury. But gave up at 19:00. Curry Time !
