When I was in the (British) Army in Germany "back in the day", a favourite trick with a newly arrived green second lieutenant was to send them off to do a recce of the village of Umleitung ("...just follow the signs").

…It is with great sadness that I have to mention the loss of a few local businesses as a result of Rachel Reeves' recent budget announcement. A local bra manufacturer has gone bust, a submarine company has gone under, a manufacturer of food blenders has gone into liquidation, a dog kennel has had to call in the retrievers and a company supplying paper for origami enthusiasts has folded. Local strip club has gone tits up,Interflora is pruning its business and Dyno-rod has gone down the drain. The saddest one though is the ice cream van man found dead covered in nuts and raspberry sauce. He couldn’t take it anymore and topped himself.

Thank you for that its brightened up a serious day for me, my father is in a hospice in the final stages with both bowel and bladder cancer, his only pleasure is being able to eat anything he wants as they no longer care about his blood pressure or cholesterol , after years of a restricted diet he is now eating his favourites & is living on egg sandwiches & curries. I can totally relate to the above & will show him tomorrow.

Really sorry to hear that. Mum in law, who I am very fond off, has had to go into a dementia home. I try and see humour in difficult situations. I hope your dad has a laugh.
