Do I lose lots of battery power if I have the heating on for twenty mins at night time??

No.

It does use battery power on start-up I think, I seem to remember discussions on earth shunts etc but being a total mechanical dumbo I wouldn't know what that means

However, from a practical point of view, I have run my heating for considerable lengths of time when parked up with no hook-up and not noticed a huge consumption of power.

Do the Beach and SE have different battery arrangements? SE 2 leisure batteries, Beach 1 leisure battery, is this correct?
