Hello

I love this Forum. I love the way the threads start on a serious quest, meander and weave, lose their way and get back to the point but in all that, answer the question. And it is a timeless resource for all ages and models of campers. So thank you.

We have/are transitioning from a 9 year old T6 Transporter conversion to a 2024 T 6.1 4wd Ocean. We dearly loved our old van which we bought as an experiment in 2023 never having camped before! In our first 18 months, we stayed in 26 different sizes in the UK, Germany, Italy and Belgium. Our longest time away was 5 weeks and that felt too short. I think the experiment worked.

We have always found the Camper and mobile home community friendly and helpful on every site we've been to and I am pleased to be allowed to join this group.

I look forward to learning all about our Cali, it's quirks and foibles and and the Art of packing it for long journeys. However, I now need to find a buyer for our reliable and much loved T6. Any tips welcome.

:welcome

That wasn't as painful as you thought !

Photos of Both ?

Welcome! Couldn’t agree more that the forum is a great resource and full of friendly and likeminded people. Congratulations on the new van! Have you had any valuations yet on your t6? Could always advertise it on the t6 forum, the guys are helpful there too and will give you an idea of the market. Have a look on autotrader for similar vans, see what they’re going for and how quickly. Conversions vary quite a bit in asking prices, depending on engine size, gearbox, type of layouts and seating (rib vs rock and roll) etc, but a bit of search should give you an idea of what to aim for.

Thanks Perfectos and Jay-D. I have attached photos of both but the ocean is a photo from the sales add! Bike rack and black side bars have been or soon will be added. The side bars saved our old van hill climbing in Italy!

Perfectos you may recognise the awning from another post!

Jay-D advertising on Autotrader but think it might be a bit early in the season! Where is the sun? Just off to check the T6 forum.

@Up10, that’s a great looking Cali! Agreed, probably a bit early in the season, hopefully the market picks up in a month or two when the days are longer and warmer. Let us know how you get on. Have fun in your new camper :thumb

@Up10 welcome from a Cali 6.1 4motion owner. Had mine just over a year and I think I've just about mastered the art of campervan packing tetris. I'm still to master the art of refrigerator tetris, tho. :headbang
I have modded mine, too and went a bit mad, but each mod serves my particular purpose, so all good

Just hide the Cali out of site when someone views the Conversion :cheers

Interested to know what mods you did and why?

Ah! The fridge. Still looking for the freezer section to make ice for my G&T! :(

I am a keen landscape photographer and wanted a vehicle capable of taking me to more inaccessible locations eg along forest tracks, unmade roads etc and staying off grid.
It's proved to be a very capable bit of kit. Not a classic off-roader, but certainly a good soft-roader
My mods include:-
Lifted suspension
AT tyres on Black Rhino Warlords
Hess Rocksliders
Almont underbody guards for sump, diff, fuel tank, Adblu tank
Lazer lamps
3x100w solar

I can see why you might want those upgrades. Great pastime. Sounds expensive though. ;)
