Well, we finally took the plunge and bought a grey 2011 140 SE in early January.

We have spent many months reading a huge amount of posts on here and it has been so helpful in making our decision. We were originally looking at 2015 ex demo models and considered a T6 Ocean but the deal we got on this one was too good to say no to, so we will put the spare cash towards our travels.

Our first planned adventures are a trip to Austria at Easter for skiing, meandering back through Germany to see where we end up, and a holiday in France in the summer, heading to the Dordogne for a week with friends and then off to the Pyrenees. I’m sure there will be many more spontaneous nights away in between.

Due to a delay in being able to get a parking permit ‘Ferdy’ has ended up being a daily driver around the crowded streets of SW London. It has been so much easier than we thought so we may very well sell our car and keep the van for everyday use, as well as a camper.

A huge thank you to everyone who posts on the forum as your knowledge has been incredibly enlightening, you spurred us on!

From four very excited new Cali owners. Let the good times roll…….

Welcome , good times ahead:thumb

Welcome. If you can cope in London with a California as a Daily Driver, then go for it because it thrives on being used regularly. Also some maintenance items are time related or milage. Whichever comes first. I know you have only just got your vehicle but has the cambelt/water pump been changed, because there is a milage limit for the cambelt but also a 5 year time limit. The water pump is normally changed at the same time because it involves taking the cambelt off anyway.

Welcome, sounds like some good times ahead. :thumb

Good to make Ferdy's acquaintance
We all learn with people's questions asked, that's what makes this forum special
Good choice on the colour :)

Welcome, sounds like Ferdy will be put to very good use! Any particular reason for the name? Enjoy :)

Hi all, thanks for the welcome.

Thanks WelshGas, not been done yet but we were aware of this, has been factored in for the coming months.

Ferdy means intrepid traveller and the first letters of the registration were FE. As soon as it was mentioned the name felt 'right'.

Hiya
Congratulations .We are at the early stages but looking for a Cali of the same year and spec as yourself. We live in the rural South West of Scotland with few dealers and vans on offer seem very overpriced as per our previous post.Could you give us some idea of what you found was the going rate for this year and spec.

Thank you so much for your personal reply.I can't tell you how helpful this was in helping us shape up our thinking .The kindness of folks on this website in sharing their experiences is heartwarming.
As Quicksilver Messenger Service sings "Happy Trails" to you.

Smart move! our 2011 is a daily drive and still feels like new. Certainly no problem in traffic or manoeuvres in the city.

No problem at all, glad it helped. We have only had ours for a month but we are absolutely loving it, it's fab. We are learning so much from everyone else on here. Good luck with your search, keep us posted.
