Morning all,

Came away to Wales in Dudley last night and already think we may have to cancel yet another holiday.

We aren’t booked in anywhere for hook up as wanted to tour, but the fridge keeps cutting out and the battery levels are fluctuating all over the place!

Does anyone have any idea why this might be, or know anywhere that could help? We are near Swansea but their van Centre has no diagnostic engineer.

Cardiff won’t check it either. They’ve suggested calling VW assistance but I don’t suppose they carry batteries.

What exactly are the symptoms and readings?

The fridge runs off a compressor (like a domestic fridge) and only runs a part of the time - this in turn will make the battery voltage and % fluctuate as it draws currents or stops.

The fridge keeps switching off.

The readings were on 11.4v showing 90% battery. When the fridge went off a third time, we turned the control panel off and back on. Then it showed 10.4v with 0% and the battery symbol was flashing. Now, it’s just jumping around with nothing plugged in or switched on.

One minute it says 90% then it reads 20%, the voltage is up then down.

It was charged overnight on Thursday then driven for three hours yesterday.

Have you been charging the batteries once a month at home?

We haven’t had it to charge it at home.

VW have pretty much had Dudley for the last two n a bit months because of all the water leaks but yes, when we’ve had it, it’s been charged at home before we take each trip.

Ahh, that is not normal of course - sorry to hear of these issues.
