Hi All - newbies to campervan life !!!!

Hi All,
Just wanted to introduce ourselves - Eric and Pauline from Dorset - retired and looking forward to some great adventures and meeting lots of new people.
We have recently bought a VW California which has been well looked after and we have already ventured out to a couple of sites locally. People are so helpful and friendly lol - when you turned up in a storm and don't know what your doing !!!!! Hopefully see some of you around on your travels.

Erik & Pauline, welcome to your new life! We did exactly what you have done but three and a half years ago and not looked back. We have been to 9 different countries and to places in the UK we would have gone to had we not had the Cali!
Its changed our life.

Welcome! You will enjoy your Cali And anything you need is right here! We’ve taken the Barfleur crossing Poole - Cherbourg lots of times as a gateway to Europe - trip down to Valencia and back via Barcelona and then back across Spain and the other side of the Pyrenees. Another favourite is Isle de Noirmoutier off of Nantes. Two specifics but as and when we can (?) Europe is at your fingertips! Enjoy!!

Hello and welcome.
I often think that the best trips are those where you have a vague idea of the location and then "play it by ear".
For continental holidays, travelling west and south seems to be favourite, but I would suggest that travelling east and south can be very rewarding and possibly less crowded.
Nice van photos, has anyone suggested fitting a bellows bungee as a simple, low cost precaution to prevent the roof fabric snagging when closing?

I agree - for our Valencia and back trip we didn’t book anywhere. Went with the ACSI book and card and just looked on the map as to where it looked nice (and green!) and if the weather looked good and went on instinct! Paid dividends and saw lots of remote and beautiful places!

Ps - concur with the bellows bungee. Would also suggest the versatility of the RidgeMonkeys for cooking!

We have the exact same model and colour..Did you get any extras with the van? We love the colour and get loads of compliments wherever we go..Nobody looks at the massive motorhomes, they always look at ours..
