Hi guys, I just bought a 2021 T6.1 Ocean and I can’t figure out what are those pieces needed for. Do you have an idea? Thanks for your help!

They are sliding awning clips to stop rattling…

Edit: my sarcasm seems to have got lost in the post :D but after seeing the same post about tie down straps and table loops about 6x across here and FB I couldn’t resist. Search really does seem a lost art on the interwebs nowadays.

There’s a pair of emergency roof tie down straps & the kitchen table support strap.
The silver torx bit fits the handle in the toolkit & is used when doing an emergency manual roof drop.

@dspuk I can’t see any awning rattle stoppers in that pile.

In OP's defence it's much easier to search for them when you know what they're called.

"what are these" works quite well ;)

First answer was the strap, fourth these.

Did you get the 2 manuals with the van, there should be a California supplement that goes through many things, including that kit and how to manually lower and secure the poptop. It's confusing at times but at lease you can YouTube it or look on here when you know what to look for.

I'm not gonna die defending this hill but here are a few reasons I'd cut OP some slack:
  • Total of one post. :welcome by the way.
  • Quite likely a non-native English speaker.
  • That's a fairly non intuitive search term. I doubt would have tried it. Certainly not in another language.

Wasn't giving him grief, he got his van second hand. If he didn't get the california supplement manual, he would have a lot of questions the VW T6.1 book would not give him. The Supplemental manual is not a big thick book and I have read it a lot, some is confusing but the forum and its great members have helped there.
My book is 2022 so there must be a version for a 2021 California.

BTW the correct manual for your vehicle is also available electronically via the California on Tour app - the word search function is helpful

Two items.. one you will probably never want to use and the other you will hope you never need to use!

As well as all that you say, if newbies just reverted to the search function all the time then engagement on this forum would just die. And sometimes you learn new things about your Cali that you either didn’t know or simply forgot about.

Yes, for those of us that have been around since VW first put wheels on the Cali, the repetitive questions can seem tedious, although 100% avoidable by just skipping past.

Personally, as @Paul G points out, I quite like the engagement and if us old, done it, seen it, and answered it 20 times over brigade don't want to answer it then there are plenty of fresh eyes in this forum who would be happy to help.

and ....

As for that strap that allows the table to hover perilously over the bench seat...

I would bin it. I have less than fond memories of my delightful penne carbonara doing a very elegant slalom on to the seat.

I think the one at the top is for attaching the inside table to head rest to make an L shape - could be wrong? ? Unsure of the rest.
