Hi Folks
If you want a stripped down, almost wild camping experience, then we recommend this one. Nestled by a beck at the top of Swaledale (about a mile past Keld, going west) it really is away from it all. Facilities consist of a portaloo (v. clean), a freshwater spring at the farm and umm, thats its apart from views, skylarks and more views. If you camp by the river, you can make a fire in the fire rings...logs at the farmhouse. Lad's groups are discouraged, but dogs are fine. It will get a bit midgey after sundown if its not windy, so be prepared. Pay at the farm, £4 PP to the very friendly farmer's wife. Obviously great walking all around, and the wonderful 'Swaledale capital' of Reeth at the bottom of the dale with every kind of facility. The drive to the site from the west (M6) via Kirkby Stephen and over the tops is stupendous; take in a walk at Nine Standard's Rig on the way over. A great spot for ski-touring as well if it snows AND the road is open.

Ian thanks for sharing that - it's quite local to us in Kendal so will definitely give it a go!
