Hybrid pay per mile

Yep.....cant really get it beyond 38mpg...... and dependant on weather. 35mpg easy on a run at 65-70mph

This was covered on a Radio 4 programme late last year, More Or Less, a programme about stats in the public arena. They concluded it’s about 1 in 40 cars on the road. As I said, it’s still a surprisingly big number.
The question was in context to growth and choice. The mobility scheme "propping" up the new car market to a certain extent.... and EVs, pay per mile, and positive figures...... not overall cars since they were first registered and that have long become unimportant to the new car market and or figures to guage the market. Interesting though to note R4 going along this route...I wonder if the conversation was playing semantics by choosing those figures........I cant work out why you would compare it as an overall (noting that cars are leased and returned / replaced and go into the market)

Similarly note the increase from 2023 to 2024......

What percentage of new car sales in the UK are Motability?

AI Overview

Around
one in five (approximately 20%) new cars sold in the UK are through the Motability Scheme, a significant figure making it a huge buyer, especially in the electric vehicle (EV) market where it accounts for a substantial portion of new sales, growing from around 14% share in 2023 to potentially 19% in early 2024, as reported by Fleet News and The Critic Magazine.

The number of cars and customers on the Motability Scheme has seen significant growth, particularly in recent years, reaching record highs by early 2026.
