Ignorance is bliss

@chockswahay thanks for the tips on DFP Monitor for VAG app. I’ve got it running now via the Carista dongle. This is going to make it a lot easier to make sure we allow a regen cycle to complete. During the winter many of our journeys are short, and it’s easy to stop regen by accident.

For others considering this app : The app has a one off cost of £6.59 (which is fine - the developer needs a return); you join the Carista dongle on Bluetooth via the app; you need to choose the relevant engine code in the app - in my case it was DNAA (this for a 150ps 2 litre engine, MY 2022). The engine code was on a label on the drivers door pillar (see below); after about 10 miles of driving, the app data was being populated, and after a couple of refresh actions, the app data became active (current); the app became selectable on ApplePlay so I now have it on the infotainment system.

@Hawthorn37 That's great that you can get the DPF stats on the media screen and I imagine it's really helpful if you understand what it all means! For me, the last time regen is really useful but do we have any idea what parameters we are looking for the other stats i.e soot mass and DPF status?

Ps. My Thread was meant to say Ignorance ISN'T bliss!

Spend the money and join the club ‘proper’, then you can edit your posts AND have access to all of the other more tangible benefits :thumb In view of the support this club offers the fee is very modest :)

I think over time you’ll get an understanding of what “normal” looks like, and you’ll spot anything going astray., such as the EGR Valve Pressure - I like it says 100% right now! Also on mine it says the soot build up is “Normal - 62% “ but that was 55% before I started driving, so I’m taking that to be the trigger for a regen, I.e. when gets towards 100%?

Like yourself, my main attention is when the next regen is likely to be.

Hi all, I just wanted to share this photo of the inlet manifold they took out of our 2018 California which was the cause of fault light I mentioned at the start of the thread . The garage tried to claim through our VW warranty but it was declined under their exclusions which stated 'Failure of any part due to the accumulation of carbon deposit(s) is
not covered by this Warranty'. I asked the warrant company when I tried to appeal of what I could have done differently seeing as though it's got a full VW service history but I didn't really get an answer except it could be down to the age of the vehicle. I'm guessing this could also be caused by the lack of frequent long runs that so many of you have mentioned? Anyway, due to this experience and all the insight that you have given it has changed my mindset of trying to keep the mileage down and start using the van a bit more especially on motorways etc. Thanks again.
