We hope to be in the market for a 'Cali' in the next few months and were just wondering about insurance costs and if there any particular insurance companies which are best to go through? There may be more questions ! Thanks

I found the VW insurance very competitive, there are some members who use Comfort, the NFU were also good. I went with the VW as they were the cheapest and gave the best cover package for what I wanted the NFU came a close second.

You will need to try a few as different companies have different risk factors.

Parked on street, miles, business.

For me comfort were best. VW were silly money.

Also try camping and caravan club.

If you type insurance into the forum search you will find 4 or 5 popular names

If you get a quote from a non camper van specialist, comfort, safeguard, caravan & camping club to name a few, you need to make sure they will cover the kitchen & camping equipment that is built in to the Cali. I had quotes from company's that would only insure it as a van & not cover the camping equipment, including the NFU.

just contacted vw insurance who say they do not covery camper vans!!

In fact I discovered I was speaking to the wrong department and they did not mention or give me information about correct department. Will try again
