Internal Ladder

Just received the internal ladder from the shop here, it has two little catches that need to be screwed in somewhere in the van, im sure this Ladder can be used without making holes in the top for the ladder to rest in, or do I need to screw this little catches on......any help....

Question 2, the kitchen shelf that sits above the hob, can this only be used when the roof is up or can it stay in sit when the roof is down.
Q.3 if left in sit when lowering the roof will it damage the roof?

My kitchen shelf is a permanent fixture, no issues with roof down, it’s designed to be left in place all the time.
