Hi everyone, this is Stephan and Lisa from Switzerland.
Since the end of November 2024, we’ve been proud owners of a brand-new California T6.1 4WD with 204 HP in Mojave Beige. We’re super excited about the adventures ahead with our Cali and can’t wait for the trips we’ll be taking.

In the meantime, we’ve added a rear pull-out drawer from 'Camptools,' which makes it much easier to access everything stored under the upper shelf.

We’re absolutely thrilled!

That's a fine looking van you have there. Congratulations!
I'm super jealous of your location and proximity to amazing places. South London doesn't have much to compare!

Thanks, Ben, for your kind words! We feel so fortunate to be near the mountains—perfect for us as mountain lovers. But I’m sure South London has its own unique charm—plenty to enjoy there as well! Cheers, Stephan

Good choice to buy one of the last 6.1's, to your own spec. It's the perfect vehicle for two adventurers to pitch up in the mountains in any season.
I can recommend the Brandrup ISO-TOP - fit and forget roof insulation.
And these Freshtec Duvalays make sleeping in it less camping, more a home from home. I pack them in vacuum bags rather than those provided, to save space.
Mojave is a great colour, and those wheels look great ... what are they?
Enjoy your new freedom.

Hi @66tim99,

Thanks a lot for your thoughtful comment, suggestions, and well wishes! We actually already have the Brandrup ISO-TOP, and it’s just waiting to be installed. The Freshtec Duvalays sound like a fantastic upgrade—we’ll definitely check them out. Do you just use regular vacuum bags for packing them?

We’re really happy with Mojave—it’s a subtle, understated color that suits our style perfectly.

As for the wheels, they’re from "Gamaparts," which is the in-house brand of the Swiss importer AMAG. If you’re curious, you can find them on page 17 of the AMAG Katalog. One thing I just noticed: the center cap doesn’t feature the VW logo but the Gamaparts emblem instead.

Thanks again for your input—much appreciated!

Cheers,
Stephan

Hi there! Thanks for the warm welcome! Luzern is such a beautiful area—we’re really looking forward to exploring great spots in Switzerland by our new Cali. If you have any favorite recommendations for van-friendly destinations, let me know!

Cheers,
Stephan

Yes. Just checked - ours are 100x76cm. These are slightly larger but all that a quick search pulled up. Much better to get them slightly too large than too small…
