Hi there,

quick feedback about our yearly road-trip, 5570km in 28 days, we've initially planned to visit both Ireland ans Scotland but we've finally decided to be a bit more realistic and stay in Ireland. This is also the first road trip of our dog ! (Sorry for the mutliple posts but there is a limit of 20 pics per post…)

Our path: Start in Geneva, fews days to reach Roscoff and take the ferry to Cork, then we've followed most of the time the wild atlantic way to Malin Head, afterward North Ireland and go back to the south. Due to de ferries timetables we've decided to go back home passing thourgh UK, Dublin=>Hollyheadand and the the Shuttle to France.

On our way to Ireland

3 days to reach Roscoff from Geneva, first step in les étangs de la Brenne, a wonderful place to observe birds, second step in the Mont-St-Michel, very impressive place !

We've really loved Ireland, wonderful wild landscapes and very friendly people ! Campervans are most of the time welcome, it's easy to find nice night spots and that's really pleasant ! The weather is a bit more hard to love but I guess it's part of the experience ;-)

Good evening !

Lost for words ....
Looks epic !

We did the Mont-Saint-Michel few years ago and where impressed .

Great photos. Will be following your tyre tracks.

Glad you enjoyed your trip here korben. I love the photographs. I know almost all those wonderful places from trips over the years.

Did you stay in any campsites? How were they for you?

Noeleen

Thank you for sharing your trip with us. It looks spectacular. It is a definite on our list too. You’ve certainly ignited our longing to visit Ireland again.
Precious memories for you.

This moves the 'Wild Atlantic Way' a bit higher up our 'to do' list... :thumb

We're just worried that, with the heavy international marketing of it over recent years, it might have become too busy to be fun. What was your experience?

Hi,

Thank's everyone for your comments :)

@Noeleen : yes we did but only 3 nights, so our campsite experience is maybe not very big...anyway the 3 sites we've been was good, always a good welcome and not too expensive. We've particularly appreciate the one in Tollymore Forest Park, the surroundings is really nice ! Something different comparing to our campsite experience in other places is maybe that pitches are very very well delimited haha.

@bvddobb : In September it was really quiet, but in fact the WAW is just like huge group of roads along the west coast and I think there are lot of possibilities to explore them without too much people (that was our case but maybe that's not true in the high season...). However there are of course some "hot spots" like the Ring of Kerry (which is nice but definitely not the best parts of the WAW for me) or the cliffs of Moher/Doolin where it's probably always busy. Having said that, you should never hesitate to take smaller roads and get lost (the ones indicated Lxxxx on maps are sometimes tricky but particularly good for that haha).

Great journey for you and you got to experience the wonderful weather. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! Just showed your pictures (to my betterhalf) and def on the where we want to go list

Thank you so much for the insight to such an amazing trip, much appreciated.

I am glad that you and your dog enjoyed visiting Ireland you certainly covered a lot of ground during your trip.We live near Belfast and know most of the places you visited, your photos are great, makes me want to pack the van and drive away. Thank you for sharing.

Some great photos, loads of memories come flooding back. I worked in Killarney for a short while up until May this year. The west coast is beautiful when its not raining...

Wow your pictures of adventure have truly inspired us. We’ve only had our van months now and thinking our trip of Scotland (where we live) to Ireland would need careful planning !
It’s taking the dog too, ours is a Labrador .. so big like yours, but wow It looks brilliant so we’re going. Thanks x
