Found this on FB, I hope it works,

"2074574/1 is the number of the TPI! Almost 5 years after the market launch of the Grand California, Volkswagen has not only finally managed to officially admit what everyone already knew anyway, but a solution is also presented.

Every Grand California owner is familiar with this little game: In the middle of the night, the Truma heater switches off for no apparent reason. Volkswagen has tried everything to blame the customer – be it imagination or the installation of a lithium battery… Greetings from Krefeld.

The new TPI now states, quote: “Customer statement: Truma heater switches off without a clear cause.” and further: “Workshop statement: Customer complaints can be understood.”

The cause is – how could it be otherwise – a software problem with the camper unit. The solution to the mystery is an update of the CU to version 0110, funny that the version number is 110.

I can only recommend every GC owner to go to the nearest VW workshop and have this update installed. This finally closes another huge problem with the Grand California"

I'm booked in, soonest the dealer can do is 15th October. They said it's downloaded to laptop then put onto SD card and then loaded into panel.

Hey all - has anyone else managed to get a dealer to apply this fix? Breeze in Portsmouth told me that the fix is only applicable in Japan/Canada which I found odd given the GC isn't even sold in these countries. Feedback appreciated.

The Irish VW dealer attempted to apply the update with my GC600 twice without success (the van was imported from Germany). They’ve been in contact with Germany and plan to try again at the end of the month.

Sounds like some confusion. Ours was done October last year, no issues and plenty of other folks on the UK FB group report successful update. Solves the Truma switching off problem. Needs a direct update of the control panel via an SD card. What are you asking the dealer to do? If you report the issue 'Truma heater switching off randomly' then the fix is an update of the control panel to version 110.

That is exactly what I asked, an update of control panel to version 110

Have you tried asking for resolution of the Truma panel randomly switching off rather than the firmware update as I don’t believe updating the firmware on the panel is something that a dealer will do on request but is something that is addressed under warranty if the issue (the Truma heater switching off randomly) is reported as a problem. I know it’s splitting hairs but it’s definitely the fix to the problem and most definitely done in the UK.

Hi Gordon, I am under guarantee until June.
I informed the dealer that the heater was shutting off randomly. They attempted to resolve the issue with a software update, but it was unsuccessful, he didn't manage to transfer the files. The technician has been in contact with Germany for support and has scheduled another appointment for me at the end of the month.

Ah, sorry for the confusion, my initial response was actually intended for @alanwicker555 , sounds like yours is a work in progress, hopefully it will be sorted soon.
