Italy ........ Turin / Cuneo area. Worth visiting?

currently in the mountains around Barcelonette in French Alps. Tempted to over into Italy but cannot find much info on campsites once across the border. Every village in the mountains in France had a site - anyone know what this part of Italy is like? Don't fancy the Italian Riveira as I think it might be a tad busy!! Is SW of Turin worth visiting?
