Kenwood DNX525DAB

I've just bought a 2015 Ocean with the Kenwood DNX525DAB fitted and the firmware all seems to be up to date, but the last update was in 2019! On reading through the forum posts it appears that the Garmin navigation wasn't well thought of ten years ago. So would it be possible to change it out for an up to date model assuming they've upped their navigational game, or should i just continue using google maps on my iphone?

Yeah I had a look on the Garmin site and it’s not showing this model which I suspect is not being supported any more.
Is the Kenwood 8021 also a Garmin unit?

Out of 20 double din units 19 are CarPlay, android auto ready, so you can use Google maps, Apple Maps, Waze directly from the phone, the other 1 unit is generally a Kenwood dnx7190dabs, dnx9190dabs or dmnr992rvs with their Garmin built in and they still have CarPlay, android auto
