recently stayed at the camping and caravan club site in Keswick, located with a very short walk into Keswick itself. just around the rear of the local rugby club. all of the pitches are quite flat on a very low level site. they do warn that the site can flood (suffered quite badly during winter flooding). currently has one toilet block in operation , very clean fully heated with push operated showers throughout. it does have family shower rooms available. plenty of other facilities such as dryers, utensil washing, service points for waste water drain etc. the site does allow you to launch your own canoe / small boat from the shore.

with just a 5 minute walk into the centre of keswick and all of its pubs, restaurants etc plenty to do. taking a small shortcut around the front of the lakeshore to get to the theatre by the lake so plenty to do for everyone.
would certainly go again.IMG_1745.JPG

Totally agree, been there many times over the years and it's our favourite site when the sun is shining :)
Since they refurbished the toilet blocks its now even nicer

It is a great spot, but folk should be aware how difficult it is to book (without planning months ahead). It's not a drop-in sort of place, although you can queue up without a booking and sometimes get on for the odd night.

It wasn't always like that, we used to go there a lot and never booked. But now it is different unfortunately.

There was also the CC site next door, but that got taken over by the C & CC who then put lodges on all the best pitches :(

Keswick town is a great place. The supermarket just outside the site sells really nice food and is different from the usual replica stores of the big chains.

I remember there used to be a sort of Army & Navy stores on the corner at the junction which sold really interesting stuff, but that has gone now unfortunately. There are still loads of pubs to stagger around though!

We stayed overnight at Castlerigg Farm in Keswick on our way back from Scotland a couple of years ago, only discovered the Keswick site once we ventured through town on our way home the next day and promised ourselves we would go back there. Stopped to have a look at the site and chat to the site manager - looks a great spot.

We always stay at the Castlerigg site. Great breakfasts in the cafe. 20 minutes to walk back from Keswick, walking poles an advantage.

The Army Navy type store is still there if you mean the one that sells everything from air rifles, camouflage clothing, knives, kayaks, airfix models, camping gear to jigsaws! Fascinating shop, I can't remember the name, it's through an archway near Temple Sports. It may have moved from where it was but you could spend many happy hours looking around it.
