License plate and decals

Does anyone know if you added a single letter decal to your paintwork near the registration plate, whether you are likely to be challenged by the "authorities". I wouldn't use a registration plate letter design, but I would go as close I dare to the actual plate. I'm sure if I asked a Police Officer they'd say I can't do it at all, but there must be a grey area if I leave a decent gap.

Agree with this... as long as it doesn't actually interfere with the number plate itself, shouldn't be an issue.

Even if you use the same font...

Only time it'll become a problem is if you use particular colour reflective vinyl (e.g. Blue)
