I just love the messages flashed up on motorway signs when there is nothing going on ..... "Drive safely".... "Drive early for Christmas"... etc

It might just be me having spent a few years in the US but I had one today on the M74

DON'T DRIVE TIRED"

"ok then, I'll stop at the next services and take my tires off!

I think whoever programs the message boards on the Scottish motorways has watched a lot of Steve Martin films. They often make me smile. I’m sure there’s a surreal sense of humour at work. Messages very dull on English motorways by comparison.

might be a subliminal 'keep your waist trim' message that as you say sneaked across the pond.

A few that may get you worried. “Did you turn of the gas” “Did you lock the back door”

I always like the signs in France where it says for instance: Lille - fluide.
Meaning: Lille - fluid traffic, no traffic jams.
When it says Lille - 45 min, it is not that great.
