Multiple warning issues today

Hi all,

I took my van out today, had the radio on for maybe 20 mins without the car running while stationary, it was also raining during this time.
When I went to restart the van , the orange Coil light came up, the start stop function stopped working ( engine will not cut out at traffic lights) and message saying Front assist unavailable and the little orange triangle light appeared

Any ideas , van is only a few months old so plenty of warranty

Looks like your front batt is low. By driveing a roud this will clear.

As said above. Modern In Car Entertainment Systems are power hungry, that’s why it will switch off after 20 minutes or so. Also, unlocking the vehicle and opening front drivers door energises a number of electronic systems including the high pressure fuel pump, so that you can drive immediately. These systems take 20 or so minutes to switch off AFTER door lock. Doesn’t require the key in the ignition or Ignition On for this to happen.
The engine battery is not charged more than 80% of capacity because of Regenerative Braking etc. and short trips of less than 20 miles or so will not compensate for the power used to start the engine.

Also, unlocking the vehicle and opening front drivers door energises a number of electronic systems including the high pressure fuel pump, so that you can drive immediately. Did you have the ignition On or in position 1 to run the radio, or just press the On button on the media unit.
Some have rewired the Media Unit to the leisure battery, but it will still switch off after 20 minutes and I gather it may be a lititle more complicated than just swapping a wire over as the vehicle BCM , vehicle computer, is involved.

not trying to be obtus, just to understand why you think it is the HPFP ?

Just going by the voltage and current readings on my T5.1. Definitely not the Webasto and/or water pump this summer.
Something draws a lot of current when unlocking and opening drivers door. Doesn’t happen for any other door opening after unlocking.
Whatever it is, Low pressure or High Pressure pump, BCM or something else, it can soon flatten an engine battery.

I don’t disagree, but there seems to be a consensus here that the HPFP primes when the doors are unlocked, which is contrary to to the accepted info on the T6 forum

I think the ignition was off and radio was on, the radio did switch off around 30mins but just put it back on not thinking the battery would run so low. I do get a buzzing sound that comes from the engine each time I open the doors, presume this normal as explained in the link that was posted

Not doors, door. If it doesn’t then it spins up very, very fast. Anyway if I’m mistaken, I’m mistaken. Maybe they’ve changed things for the T6/6.1.

Yes, it’s draining the battery. Is it normal, Yes. Some vehicles can be noisier than others.

Well with ambient temperature of 30c this summer there was no noise from the Webasto or anything on that side of the engine so something else was drawing significant amounts of power on unlocking and opening drivers door.on my T5.1.
Or I have a very, very quiet vehicle and Webasto system.

We have a 6.1 and every time you unlock the van and open the drivers door you can hear the diesel pump wurring away - being primed, regardless of outside temperature. No idea how much it draws on the battery though. Same happens in our XC40 Volvo out of interest.

Have driven around for a hour and nothing all faults are there ..is there a way of know the battery is recharging its self, so will have to take it to garage as it’s still under warranty

Yes, it’s draining the battery. Is it normal, Yes. Some vehicles can be noisier than others.

The older you get the quieter it becomes.
But get the vehicle back to the dealers, this is not standard behaviour.
