So given that the van was starting to feel a bit wobbly over big bumps, I put a new set of Billies on yesterday. Just standard B4 units, no need for anything silly like adjustables etc.
When I took the old ones off each corner it seemed they weren’t that bad, given the amount of force required to compress then.
Anyway a quick road test confirmed night and day.
The two things that stood out was a big reduction in road noise and low speed damping, these two being a function of the rubber bushing top and bottom of each damper.
Overall a greatly improved ride.
So, even if the damper units themselves are ok the bushings may well be perished/worn.
Big result for £200 and an hours work.
