Hi, I’m Christian from Berlin (Germany) and live in Cheshire together with my wife and two kids since 6 years. I’m part of the Volkswagen Group Design Team and work in Bentley Design now. My friend Albert Kirzinger has actually designed the last generations of Calis and other Commercial Vehicles. Me and my family are massive Volkswagen Bus (how we call them in Germany) fans and just bought a 2016 T6 Ocean after we had a 6.1 Coast for 7 month to explore England and Scotland in 2021 and owned a T4 Cali long time ago.

I just thought I say hi to the community and hope to experience the English California Scene a bit.
Best, Christian+Sandra and kids

Welcome Christian,

and welcome to Cheshire. I was there last week visiting relatives in Northwich. Presumably you are at Pyms lane?

The lovely lady I was visiting, my Sister in law, also works for VW, at MAN in Trafford park.

Hi Jen,

Thanks for the welcome message. Yes exactly at Pyms Lane…at least during the working week .

Welcome, sounds like a great upgrade from the T6.1 to a T6. Some feedback to the VW designers, even though I am a computer technician I dont like where all this is going with just touch displays. As most car reviewers I think VW has overdone it on the current ID cars with silly touch areas on the steering wheel.

Welcome Christian and family. Hope your T6 gives you as much pleasure as our does!

:welcome

Hellow and welcome. Why did you get rid of the t6.1 and don’t you dare make use of your right to remain silent ;) :D
We had a 31 years old T4 westfalia california (April 1991) and had 10 years of great family travels with it. Sold it a few weeks ago and now got a T6.1 coast (because of the manual roof :Grin).
Greetings

T6.1 Coast is great but ours was a company car I had through Bentley why it had to go back. I love T4s as well and we had a look at one but corrosion is an issue after all these years. Manual roof makes sense as well and our Ocean is my first Cali with an electrical one. Fingers crossed it lasts a lifetime .

Of course he'll hold out; it's only a limited group that has problems with the electro-hydraulic roof but I just don't want to be one of them. So much can go wrong: today I backed into a pole with some damage as a result. It's not fun, but everything will be alright.
I wish you and off course your family happy travels and rides.

Our T4 was original and kinda rust free but there are good ones and bad ones. I am happy with the price they paid although it was a hard decision to take but standing and not being used would not be ok for it.

Welcome @BerlinBentley

So anyone for a T6 with a W12 Bentley engine ... or should we settle for the twin Turbo V8s? ;)

With the lesser electrickery on a T6 (than the 6.1), that may be ripe for an engine swap (so what if it sticks out a bit!).
