Had my 22 reg T6.1 Ocean for a year now; it's 3 years old in 2 weeks and have just used it fully for the first time due to various reasons stopping us going away.

Couple of days at Moffat, 4 days I Gallowaand then 2 in Lakes and she's averaged 38.6mpg from fill up. Was doing 40.3 on motorways using acc at 70mph. We had mixof weather, heavy rain and 45mph winds - roof up all the while and no leaks. Really pleased overall with no niggles......next trip Ireland in September covering as much as we can of Wild Atlantic Way with sons Irish in laws!!!

Yes, they're not too bad are they considering their size and weight.
We managed 37.09 mpg average over a recent 2089 mile trip and that included the NC500.

No idea what I am doing wrong. I manage between 30 and 32mpg, even using ACC between 65-70mph

Me too, mine is a 204 and 4 motion, but getting 36mpg (absolute best) down to 31.5mpg when absolutely fully loaded thats at 70mph on motorway most of the time using ACC again most of the time

Could tyre / wheel type and sizes play a part here ?

Could do, but Jerry's looks like mine, same colour and wheels and a 204 (albeit unknown if its a 4 motion). Perhaps my lead right foot is part of the problem?

Not 4-motion, got it on my Tiguan but decided I didn't need it on my van.
Don't need it on my Tiguan to be fair but that's how it came!

I suspect my real day to day average is more like 32mpg...I need the longer motorway runs to get it higher.

I agree. There does seem to be a lot of variation between vehicles. Mines probably about 34-35 on a 150 Beach

Over the last 2,430 miles I’ve averaged 39.2mpg. Mostly A roads and Motorways, generally with ACC set at 70. I have seen 43mpg on occasions. I don’t use it for short, local trips as my Classic Panda Selecta (CVT Auto) gives me over 50mpg pottering about.

Since I last refuelled I’ve achieved 39.8mpg over 233 miles. Tank currently at 69% with remaining miles of 355.

My Ocean is the 150bhp with standard wheels, full tank of water and all camping gear in (other than bedding and food).

I get around 50mpg on average in my 2017 T6 150 Ocean on long runs (I’ve seen as high as 58mph on some long runs). I go about 55mpg, use the coast function and never use the ACC (it’s pretty inefficient).

I’m pretty low (around 100mm, slightly more aero) and have 255/35 20 Eagle F1. Bike rack on back.

You all need to be careful obsessing with mpg . These engines need working hard to avoid egr and dpf issues. Tootle along at 58mph at your peril and wait for the orange light of doom that will wipe out your fuel savings and all your other savings

I’ve run plenty of VAG diesels like this with no issues. Mind you, I very rarely run local runs (have an EV for that). It’s all long journeys.

Mind you, I’d worry if I had the 204 BiTDI.

All these MPG comparison threads are a waste of time.
The least inaccurate method of measuring MPG for a vehicle is tank full to tank full on one vehicle.
Using the dashboard display is like using a wet finger to measure wind speed.
Wind speed, direction, vehicle weight, vehicle age, milage, tyre size and composition, tyre wear , road type, route topography ( hills ) , traffic congestion, traffic flow, air temperature , driving style, weather etc; etc; all affect an individual vehicle and comparisons between vehicles is a total non-starter.
If you can match the Official MPG figures for your vehicle you are doing brilliantly, but you won't because those are done under strict laboratory conditions with thousands of thousands of pounds of expensive equipment that measure speed and fuel consumption to 2 decimal places.
If it makes you feel smug when you see 50mpg on the Dashboard display then fine , just ignore the 10mpg on a cold winters morning with a 60mph headwind.

Not feeling particularly smug and what a strange response. Others posted theirs, I shared mine and gave full details to help other forum members. In fact, I’ve given more detail than others in an attempt to qualify the mpg.

I do agree though, the figure on the dash is more an “econometer” than a precise measure.

Not aimed at you personally, just an example that such comparisons between different vehicles are meaningless.

I'd be more worried about the depreciation on the ev.
204 bitdi here 8 Yr in. Zero issues. Great engine. Change oil yearly. Drive it hard. 8 yrs in. Zero issues but I don't get 50 mpg

Over all now after more than 130000km, I manage to get just under the factory figures of mixed driving. It states 7.7 liter per 100km. I am at 7.6. And that is with daily commuting when I am not on bike or on holidays. And I am always one of the first ones gone at the green lights, always trying to drive the max speed, or even over it, except on motorways, where I don't drive harder than 110km/h.
If I would try to hypermile, I would get even lower figures, but I don't care for that. Oh, I don't see figures of 10mpg, not even on winter days with heavy head wind. Even than it's way more than 10.
What am I doing wrong?
140hp, 215/65 R16, and no real lead foot, but I like to get it moving.

Try motorway driving at 60mph, imagine your a truck and drive like one, smooth acceleration and deceleration, the brakes are an emergency only feature and watch your mpg go up significantly. what's your rush your on holiday?
