Noisy Suspension?

Does anyone have a problem with noisy suspension/shock absorbers? I have an Apr 15 Beach and every time I go over a bump (speed bump or other) the front shocks squeak like air escaping or as though there were a leak. Heritage VW of Bristol says this is completely normal but funnily enough I have been driving for 30 years and never had a vehicle that makes this noise!
