Ocean Options

Hi guys, My wife and I are thinking about getting an ocean but are confused by the choice of options! We think we have selected what we want but would appreciate peoples feedback. If possible please could you post photos of the various options?!

Privacy Glass woulld me a must for me (did not see it on your build or may have missed it) and I would loose the electric door.

Hi - having gone through this at great length recently, I can offer an opinion or two.

Looks like a lovely spec - a few thoughts on specifics

Roll out awning - there isn't one on your spec (the black tube on the side of the roof you see on many of them) - this is under £500 to add at the factory, but over £1200 to fit afterwards. Even if you buy it from the factory you can sell it for more than you paid on the day of collection!!

Bed Extension with Comfort Mattress - some people love this, others find it quite uncomfortable. If you don't buy it you can buy other bed mattresses/toppers for the same or less money that are much nicer. If there is only two of you, you can also just buy one that will do for upstairs and downstairs. For example, we've just bought a duvalay one for upstairs (which fits downstairs) for £108 at the NEC show.

If you are planning on driving in europe in winter - some countries require winter/all season tyres, so you could upgrade the tyres from the factory for not much money (c.£130) to all weather ones so you don't have to swap wheels later

80l fuel tank - it's peanuts to add and means you won't have to refuel as often. Remember the night heater uses diesel (not a huge amount) but it does affect how many miles you get out of a tank

Magnetic flashlight - peanuts to add and if you've got a dog or a dark campsite, is handy, always charged and easy to find when you need it. Another thing to not have to find a space for too.

Laminated Windows - we debated this but nearly everyone we spoke to who had had both said don't bother as the Cali is so quiet anyway. It is double glazed at the back anyway and the middle windows (the openers) aren't laminated if you buy this option anyway. It's only the two front windows. We just chose the privacy glass and saved a few quid.

LED Headlamps - functionally amazing, SO superior, and in our opinion make the van look 10x more modern too.

Agree on Privacy and Awning, Not sure about the electric door, a friend has one on his and mentioned that you can't have the door partially open. DSG is a great options, but cannot see it.

Electric door is good it you let it do its own thing and open and shut as if you use a helping hand you could break it
DSG you will forever kick yourself if you don't include it , If you have a colour multi function display,
DSG and leather steering wheel you get flappy paddles

Electric door - lots of threads on here re it causing flat battery & asking how to stop the beep. Even the manual door comes with electric closing so you don't need to slam it shut.

I spent the last 20 years fitting electric doors every one is used by people in a hurry trying to open and close instead of waiting for the motor to do its job at its pace and leave it alone , they are fine just if you try to pull open or close against the motor it will go wrong well that's my opinion don't know why the battery will go flat , in my case it was fitted when I purchased the vehicle
When lowering the roof I leave the door open and just push the button once the roof is down
