Started up my T6 (2019) and airbag warning light came on and remains on...... Should I be worried? Is there an easy fix? Seems to be long waits to get it into diagnostics and repairs - and I'm about to go away in the van.

Any help from the forum would be greatly appreciated

Most likely something has been disconnected in the airbag system. That light can only be re-set via the diagnostics even if/when the disconnection or fault has been fixed.
If you know what has happened and reconnected it someone on here with OBD diagnostics kit can re-set it for you. I can with VCDS.

As long as the Warning light is On, I believe all the Airbags are Off.
As said above, the system can only be enabled once the fault is fixed.

Normally caused by the airbag cable being pulled tight when a seat is rotated. As others have said in needs someone to plug in a computer to reset the light once the cable is reconnected.

Cheers everyone - you were spot on @andyinluton - in rotating the passenger seat the wire had caught on the rubber battery cover and been pulled out - the garage said this is common and the wire is too tight - he left the wire dangling loose rather than clip it back up - which he says should stop it happening in the future ..... £30 for diagnostics and the time for garage man to fix it .... so not end of the world

Hi I have the same issue, airbag warning light orange. Was told it was the clock spring but now thinking maybe it is just a wire loose. Not sure which wire I would be looking to see if loose? Any pointers please

You need to look at the physical underside of the seat and you should see a yellow connector. It is unlikely it has come undone, but excess movement will cause the airbag ecu to detect an issue.

The cable under the Passenger seat RHD was an uncommon fault on the T5/5.1, when rotating the seat. On the T6 onwards rarely if ever mentioned.

@DessyParkerWigWam any disconnection however intermittent on any of the airbag circuitry will bring the airbag warning light on. Once on it can only be reset by a dealer or someone with diagnosis software like VCDS etc.
Many of us have had the end panel off the dash where the passenger airbag disable switch is and then inadvertently switched the ignition on whilst the switch is disconnected then hey presto an orange light on the dash!
If there is anyone local to you with VCDS etc. they may be willing to try resetting it for you. If you have no response from members on here try the VW T6 Forum for a local person.

We used to have this problem on our T5.1 and every single time it was 'resolved' by the dealer, it eventually always returned. Wouldn't surprise me if they just turned of the warning light each time, since it kept coming back. They said the airbags would still just work, but I have serious doubts that that is true. In the end after refusing to pay for a solution because they had charged me for it before, I pointed them in the direction of the cables under the rotating seat (that @WelshGas is referring to) and since then it never came back.
