Mines a 2008 model service intervals every two years or 20,000 miles.
extras for the model there weren’t many, upgrade on engine from 130 to a 175 , cruise control, electric side door, sat nav and 17inch wheels, 16 inch alloys were standard, I think that was about it .
The 175 model the TDI on the back was all red.
hope this helps.

A helpful VW Dealership should be able to give the Owner, if not you as the buyer, a printout of all services and work carried out on the vehicle.

Also, the Handbook or Service Booklet should have a sticker with all the Option Codes for the Options fitted to the vehicle. This same sticker should also be found on the Drivers Seat seat base..
The Option Codes can be checked on line.

What year and engine size is it please.

Is there a service book that comes with the vehicle? It could have been serviced by independent garages so wouldn’t necessarily be documented by VW but would be in the service book with receipts ..Any warranty work would have been done a long long time ago. Would be nice to know if the roof had been repaired under warranty. Most people who have these vehicles normally keep all the documentation to show on to the next buyer but if it’s been sold to a dealer then they sometimes withhold It until pressed.

Checking if there is any roof corrosion present is an important check to make. If any work has been done, to either the front box section or the elevating section, try to ascertain the quality of the repair.

The original spec, this thread should help, there should a sticker with the Build Codes (PR code) in the service book and in the van under the dash.

2.00 BiTurbo 2015 went to look at it yesterday and it is in excellent condition apart from a small tear on the canvas which they are going to patch, its done 31,000 and all the services have been done and stamped, cam belt and water pump replacement done at 30k ( not sure if this is normal but could be done on years instead of miles i suppose, everything works , spent 2 hrs in it trying everything, would of been nice to speak to original owner just to see if everything ok, i know his name snd were he lives, but cannot find any details, never spent over £40 k on a car before

If it is Dsg with xenon lights and sat nav it's sounding like a well specced Cali.
Don't bother about a Comfort mattress, just get a topper from anywhere.

There to expensive £200 plus i am broke now after buying this

We have a 2015 140. A few other points are.
Leisure batteries. We had ours replaced after 3 years under warranty so would need to check if they are good. The roof we had repaired after 4 years under warranty and all is now good. The Awning needs to be fully wound out to see if the seam is still ok, they tended to come apart on that model. It sounds like the cambelt and waterpump have recently been done. They recommend at 4 years but this seems to be VWUK advice as in the rest of Europe they are not as strict.
Privacy glass, safe, flashlight, comfort mattress and a few other bits seemed to be the standard “extras”. Plus whatever you decided to spend your money on.

Would like to add a comfort mattress like the original spec but cannot find one and most others are £200 plus and really do not want to spend that much at the moment

Also if there is a tear in the canvas it would mean the bellows have been trapped at some time. This could also mean there is a crease in the alloy roof. Look along it to make sure it’s perfectly flat. If there is a crease it’s not a difficult job to get it out.

Checked all around and seams to seal well when down, thanks

It's desirable but not essential, I used an IKEA topper for about 80quid. Dunelm is another cheap option. Doesn't have to be a big brand.

It’s always a bugger when people sell to a dealer who can’t give you the basic information as to what’s happened to the van over the past 6 years. A private seller would be able to tell you everything from day one they bought the van. You wouldn’t want to see the original sales receipt as it would make you cringe.....

All the “extras” on the California are a ridiculous price and the topper being no exception. The “Rechargeable” flashlight at £80 is another. Ours fell to bits and is noe held together with sellotape...

That was a pi** take.
It came as part of the truly wonderful vw bargain packages including the “Safe” . If it was a “ Pi**take” they Extracted plenty from their customers. Safe, what a joke ...

As it’s a 180 bi turbo DSG be aware there was a major issue with the EGR cooler corroding and writing off the engine. Google “CFCA excessive oil consumption”. The issue is *mostly* fixed on models after 2013 so yours should have the Version D of the EGR valve (easy to check with the bonnet up). This means it’s better but definitely not perfect. At that mileage you should be OK but if you’re thinking you’ll own it past 100k then you may want to think about a 140 engine. If you’ll have it for a few years and do 40k you should be OK. The specialist replacing my engine and turbos at 60k (£8k) due to this issue has done a few T6’s with the same issue so it’s definitely not 100% fixed on newer models, and he’s also seen some at much lower mileage too. At least buying from a dealer you have some come back. Just keep a very close eye on the oil levels and try to load a lot of miles onto it - if it’s dropping even slightly noticeably within the return period, take it back. Mine was using 1L every 600 miles which (according to the manual) is just about within tolerance IIRC!!

Ouch. At 31k miles it should be pretty fresh and had a min of two oil and filter changes. I would blank and go annual oil changes (mines changed between 6 and 8k and uses no oil at 51k miles ).

A lot of the spec was grouped as packs and I think I may have bought the never used rechargable torch twice.

I thought the awning was included within a pack but mine is shown separatelyScreenshot 2021-09-18 224144.png
