Our first trip underway

Kings Canyon
155km of corrugated dirt/rock/sand road after this stop.
- That will test her (Cali) out!
Standard highway tyres & suspension.
Most worried about the tyres - we only have 1 spare. Finding the right speed can overcome the corrugations.

She made it.
About 90-100 kmph was about right but that did mean dust holes came up quite quickly. The suspension got a bit of a work out & she was a bit floaty in sections.
Glen Helen (Finke River) & Grosse’s Bluff Crater on the way.

It’s not the dust that you kick up it’s the dust that’s kicked up by the road trains. Best thing is keep your eyes closed and hope there isn’t another right behind it.

In the 70s there was no tar on the road up to Alice. So 850 miles of corrugated dirt till you hit the outskirts of Alice. Always carried 2 spare tyres and that wasn’t enough.

Thankfully, no Road Trains on the Meerenie Loop It goes from no where to no where
Kings Canyon (a pub & Camp Ground) to a bit short of Hermannsburg (an old mission & outpost)
