Perfo seat covers

We are about to order some seat covers from Individual Auto Design. A question for those who have the Perfo leather look. If something has been spilled on the seat has it gone through the cover and stained the original?
I prefer the look of the Perfo for the centre section but wondering how practical they are when the purpose of covers is mainly protection.
