It was changed a while ago as we had some members using our server like I cloud and storing hundreds of their holiday photos with very large resolution
Which had nothing to do with California's. Nothing personal

Difficult to believe some Cali owners are too cheap to use a photo storing site.
Dropbox gives a reasonable amount of free space. I am sure there are others.

I know it's a Yahoo product, but Flickr gives 1TB of storage for your photos. Nice Apps for iOS and Android too.

Flickr is perfect. Even paying for unlimited storage is well worth it!
