What’s your views about the power cuts in South Europe?
If you have a campervan / motorhome with solar and LiPo battery’s & a few gas bottles, are you classed as a prepper or maybe just the Boy Scout be prepared is actually a good thing?
The more I think about Gov and dealing with backup of power stations and energy, isn’t self sufficiency the way to go ?
Yes I know about the zombie apocalypse as I watch the last of us, but petrol stations tank lids can be removed & siphoned and a petrol vehicle would be able to journey to the coast to get on a boat as the zombies can’t swim ? (tl:dr ;)

Zombies cannot swim ?
Is that cause of the draggy slow legs ? :D

Serious side though - talk of cyber attacks 10/15yrs ago saying that the struggles of war was going to be more in IT. Disabling countries. Financially or with Power. Look at Heathrow with their power outage. Now with two countries being targeted (not that we will know what the actual cause was).
I know i would rather be out there self dependant in my camper :cheers

I'm down in Spain at the moment, have solar, and if someone hadn't told me I would not have known about the outage. Helps that I was parked up on the day, it was bright and sunny, and I did not have to refuel or go to the super market.

The UK energy infrastructure network isn't particularly resilient at the moment even without bad actors / cyber attacks (privatisation, asset stripping & underinvestment, but that's a whole different thread). Recent storm damage has shown that we need to be prepared for outages due to downed power lines or other physical breakages. Realistically, everyone should have a camping stove, gas bottles, candles/torches and battery pack at the ready as a minimum whether or not they have a campervan. I think more people maintain a larder now after Brexit/COVID shortages also. Now we just need to consider how many extra 907s to buy...
(On that note expect sone copycat panic buying in a few weeks when empty shelves start appearing in America).

And we are only at the start of the EV and AI revolutions both of which will put huge demands on energy infrastructure

Every day’s a school day isn’t it - Zombies can’t swim. Obvious really when you think about it. How big a moat? Now that’s the real question

Well I’m in Spain and the lights stayed on in my Cali
