Projector Setup Finally In Our Cali

Used to rig up similar screen but now just project on the front bellows of an open roof. Less faff and one less item to stow. Only downside to my solution is that your fellow campers can see what you are watching as it shows through on the outside of the van. If feeling mischievous we can project a log fire from You Tube on to the bellows and from outside looks like our van is on fire

any issues please get in touch
Hi Carl I had a look on the link really clever solution. If you are minded to reproduce I would definitely place an order, as I think fellow forum members may as well
Let me know thanks Bill

Hi Bill, I am sending out two sets this week to fellow Cali owners as I would like some feedback from them, if the feedback is positive I will happily print a few more for people on the forum.

Looks like a neat setup, but is it just me who likes to escape things like Netflix when out and about?

We have recently been confined to our van for two days. A family of four plus dog on the Costa Blanca in near continuous heavy rain for ~48 hours, breaking only to walk the dog twice a day.

A screen and projector would be a godsend.

Many thanks Chris

Sent the file to my mate who printed and posted 2 of these. Fits nicely on the pole…look forward to trying in the Cali…
Thanks Carl

Link to Thingiverse not working? Would love to get a set of these made up, thanks.

I'd love to buy some of these, but if you don't want to print that many, could you share the model?
Hi Mark, they will be available soon to buy, I will share the link as soon as I have confirmed the best way to make them available

I am also working on a few other projects for the Cali

Are they available anywhere else?
interested in buying a set but shop are charging £29.99 shipping to Ireland.

I saw this on California Time, what a great idea. Just tried to click on the link for the model but getting 404. Any suggestions?

I just put it on the sink or hob, no need for a tripod as mine has keystone
Hi, after much consideration, I decided the best way to provide these to California community was to actually print them myself as I quickly realised not everyone has a 3D printer at home.

Nick from Campervanbits has very kindly agreed to sell them via his shop, hence I have now removed the link to the download I provided earlier in this thread.

I need to thank Will & Sarah from California time for liking the idea and producing their amazing YouTube video.

When I originally posted the thread I thought it was an ok idea, but us home designers always think that! I never imagined that so many people would like it to.

3D printing and designing things to print is simply a hobby for me. If any of the California Community has any ideas for new projects, please get in touch.

I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone in the west midlands that has a projector that does not have keystone adjustment as I am working on a solution but sadly I own an Anker Nebula which has these settings.

The Anker Nebula is an expensive option but is very good, I see from my online research there are other options available at half the price without keystone correction

So, sadly, rather than retain the option to self print for those that can it becomes another purely commercial enterprise. Shame, and not really what the forum should be about.

I had the same thought, especially when I saw the cost in the shop, but decided it was not really fair to Carl.

I was initially looking to download it in order to send to somewhere to commercially for production. This would have cost a few quid, I have no idea how much but unlikely less than its selling for in the shop now. So in my case, complaining or resenting Carl would be silly and unfair.

But more than that, if Carl has invented something that clearly alot of people really want, why shouldnt he benefit from his idea and hard work?

Yes I was lucky to benefit from Carl’s initial free gift of the file to print, which my mate did for free.
I wonder if the file could be sold at lower cost for those with 3D printers?
Problem I suppose is then Carl loses control of his file… of course I won’t send it on, but someone else could decide to promote it and sell it on themselves. Is there such a thing as a copyright for a 3D model?

Hi everyone,

I am pleased to announce that these are now exclusively available in the campervanbits shop

I've just ordered a set, Carl! I love that you've been able to turn this into a little operation. I'll gladly support you. May I ask one question? What size screen from Amazon do you use, please? Is it the
Duronic Bar 40” Projector Screen? Apologies if I'm being dumb! Thank you!
