Purple Clip Release

Hello
I am in the process of replacing the control panel button and the purple clip will not release from the harness connector, it is jammed in the latched position. I have cracked the top edge which I can repair but concerned that it will snap completely if I apply too much pressure.
Any ideas much appreciated?

To release such a connector, you need to push the black tab that hold the purple lever. Then you can turn the lever around (180°) and then the connector should be pushed out.

What happens when you push the connector back in place?
What has broken already? the black tab?
You can try by wiggling the connector up and down while trying to turn the purple lever.
In worst case you'd have to buy a new connector (comes as 1 piece).
In a much worser case you can break the tabs in the control unit(?), making it impossible for the connector to stay in place.

I have managed to release the clip by pushing down on the connector it was obviously fighting against the release clips. The clip is now in two pieces where it is cracked but. I should be able to glue that.
