We've had a couple of the control units sent for repair that have physical damage to the LCD. One was scratched in the middle as well as the usual lines of pixels not working, another had been signs of being repaired before and had missing lines of pixels. The latter was damaged on the edge of the LCD where the ribbon connects the horizontal lines to the main circuit board. The conductive lines on the glass had been scratched through and there was no chance of salvaging it.
The photo shows the damaged lines on the edge of the display. It's easy to see on this extreme close up photo that some of the lines are completely scratched off and this is the cause of the missing rows of pixels on this display. Only the lowest lines shown in the photo are completely undamaged.

We have arranged a supply of replacement LCDs for these control units. They're a good quality aftermarket replacement part.
