Ive had a hair brain idea!

To all those budding electronics nerds, how easy do you think it would be to somehow wire an A/B switch along with the purchase of another VW camera (6.1), so I can mount it on my cycle carrier perhaps using a discrete waterproof socket, .. or even! via the hitch cable?

I know, mad. But hey, if it could be done it would be fab for those of us who like a rear view when reversing with 2 bikes on the back.

Anyone?

Thanks!

Why not a Wirless wifi/ Bluetooth reversing camera using your phone as the screen or a separate monitor screen?

Wiring in anything on the back tailgate is difficult due to the chairs and taking all that apart.

This is what makes the oem rear camera retrofits so troublesome.

In theory what you’re suggesting should work, if you really fancy a DIY project.

It would certainly be easier if you swapped out the head unit for an after maket one

having trouble with one I bought. especially when I use CarPlay, as you need to swap networks (if wifi device) every time you reverse. Im trying using a sdeperate device, but that disconnects unless I leave it on all the time, and then the dash is gonna look like a CCTV HQ!

shame VW dont do one, would be so useful.

Most motorhomes have a two camera setup these days, one for reversing, and one that acts as a rear view mirror, so it is not impossible.
If you inserted a 4 pole changeover relay into your existing camera circuit toggled by your "change view" switch near the back of the van and added your second camera it theoretically could change the view by switching one camera on and the other off, whilst switching the video feed at the same time.
The video cables are usually very small and a complete bastard to solder or work with.
