Hi all - as I continue to kit the cooking capabilities of the wagon, I see repeated recommendations for RM kit.

Will a 1l square kettle fit in the sink?

Which size panini grill/griddle do people find stows away and can do 3-4 sandwiches? Is XL overkill?

Any other suggestions welcome!

It’s generally good kit, space efficient, easily washed up, and the magnetic closing lids very useful to minimise mess and accelerate cooking.

The XL will cook 2 sandwiches. You’ll need the XXL for 4. The deep pan with griddle is our most used pan. I read on this forum that the kettle fits into the sink, but we havent direct experience.

The XL sounds like it would be large but it's not. Split in 2 both halves fit nicely on the 2 burners.

I am not sure what RM we have but we replaced our original one with a newer one where the handles cone off so fits a treat in cupboards.

It's good kit, versatile, very lightweight & easy to clean. Just don't turn the heat up too high.

Grilla BBQ + hot plate also good. Can be run on gas, charcoal or wood. You can also sit the pans on the top. Folds flat.

I use the RM XXL combi and Steamer, great bit of kit.

XL is a good size; 3 crumpets (two whole plus two halves), two large croissants or two cheese and onion pasties. As said, when split it fits well on the burners side by side. Not sure what the non stick coating is but it’s extremely effective - nothing sticks to it!

And there is an upgraded coating called granite (has whitish flecks). Very durable and non stick and is probably a better option vs the original coating.

I think that’s the one I’ve got actually.

We have the XL and it's not actually that big! We have the new granite one and it truly is non stick.
I didn't realise they did an XXL - which I know want! As we are a family of 5 and it is time consuming when you can only fit 1 or 2 wraps in at a time.

I would query if the XXL would be as effective - isn't the success of the RM the fact it's a relatively small volume relative to the hot surround? I would be tempted to have two XL rather than a massive one?

Given the size of the burner the XL is probably the sweet spot all things considered. I too would recommend two if cooking for more mouths.

We find it good. We also have a small set of stacking pans. The ridge monkey as well as acting as a griddle pan, is great for hotting pastries pizza, etc.

I was a bit sceptical of the RM at first but for such a simple object it’s surprisingly versatile. Takes a bit of “tuning in” to get the best out of it (and a steady hand on the hob control to turn it down to the lowest setting near “off”) but it does a great job.

It has won me over. My biggest critique is turning it over with any liquid/fat etc inside. Requires a very deft hand and towel over the back of the seats.

Given the size of the burner the XL is probably the sweet spot all things considered. I too would recommend two if cooking for more mouths.

No issues with mine, did some garlic bread in the van during my last trip worked a treat!

I try the super confident quick flip! It works 9 times out of 10 !

I’m in total agreement, but … still tempted every time I see the XXL for sale in the club shop! In terms of convenience, and cooking ability, the RM kit is hard to beat.

I can’t think of a better aroma to settle down to sleep to if only they did “in the oven nearly done garlic bread aroma” air fresheners….

As long as the wife and myself both have it, there’s no issue, unsure if the dog likes it or not!

I’ve got the small toaster & kettle which does fit nicely in the sink .
I’m going to get the one with the compartments this year & have considered the bbq

I thought about getting the 0.5l kettle to replace the cheap collapsible kettle in my van, as I like the look of a “proper” kettle.

Is it the 0.5l one that fits in the sink?
