I loved him. I found his happiness irrepressible and his professionalism unmatched. He was an all round performer, not my type particularly but at least I can appreciate a real trooper.

He certainly was a national treasure. And what a completely fabulous life he had - all 89 years of it - filled with a career he loved, surrounded by people he loved and who loved him - who couldn't want for that? I hope my life is as blessed.
